Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park
Named Among Top 100 Family Campgrounds

Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park is named in the Top 100 Family Campgrounds in America by ReserveAmerica, North America's leading camping reservation and campground management organization. The top camping locations were selected based on criteria requested by family campers including park amenities, stunning outdoor scenery, and educational facilities. The quality and availability of hot showers, laundry facilities, hiking trails, family beaches, radio-free zones, visitor centers, educational programs, children's events and location were also considered. For more information and camping reservations, visit their web site : http://www.reserveamerica.com . The park was also listed as one of the "10 great places to pitch a pup tent" on USA Today's online Travel Page at www.usatoday.com/travel .

The park is near Felton on Highway 9 in the Santa Cruz Mountains, and is the home of the Redwood Grove, a self-guided wheel chair and stroller accessible nature path that winds through towering redwood trees. The park borders the San Lorenzo River with many of the trails meandering along its banks. The most unusual feature of the park is a stand of Ponderosa pine, a species rarely seen at this low an elevation. There is also a visitor center and park store. The visitor center is undergoing an extensive remodel and is expected to open with state of the art exhibits that explore each of the park's habitats in September of 2004.
