Camping at Big Basin Redwoods State Park
To make camping reservations, call Reserve America at (800) 444-7275 or visit the Reserve America web site. The Reserve America site features campsite maps showing the location of each site in relation to parking, restrooms, and other facilities.
There are 146 family campsites located in four campgrounds. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring, and most have wooden storage cupboards. Piped drinking water, restrooms and showers are found in all the campgrounds. Some sites are designated for tent camping due to uneven parking spurs; many sites are multipurpose and have level parking areas large enough for most campers, trailers, and RVs. There are no hook-ups for RVs; however, there is a dump station located at Huckleberry Campground.
Campers wanting a bit more privacy may enjoy one of the walk-in tent sites in the park. These campsites, just a short walk from the parking area, give you a greater sense of “being away from it all” and they have the same amenities as the rest of the campsites.
There are four group camps in the park. The two at Sequoia Campground can accommodate up to 50 people each and may be reserved together for groups up to 100. Sequoia has hot water and showers in a central restroom. Sky Meadow’s two camps each hold 40 people and may also be booked together for larger groups. Sky Meadow is a walk-in camp and has piped water and pit toilets, but no showers or hot water.
Big Basin Redwoods State Park features Tent Cabin camping. These charming one-room cabins are managed by a private concession. Reservations may be made online or by calling 800-444-7275.
