Daniel has a degree in psychology from Sonoma State University and a California Teaching Credential from Dominican University. He taught high school biology and botany in the Mendocino Unified School District for five years, as well as teaching at various 6th grade outdoor science schools in Mendocino and in the San Diego mountains.
Hendy Woods State Park and Torrey Pines State Reserve are two parks he has had the good fortune to work in. He spent 2009 and part of 2010 as the Interpreter at Cuyamaca Rancho State Park and Palomar Mountain State Park. Daniel returned to Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park in Septemer 2010.
